Another good night of orienteering. Thank you very much to Katherine Bolt for setting the courses. There were lots of very complimentary comments made.

Next week we are at Ambury Park, again on Tuesday - 8th of February. This is a very interesting map and will be new to most of you. The area is a farm park so come and try something different. Sorry no dogs allowed - because it is an active farm. Plenty of farm animals and birds about. There are lovely barbeque facilities so bring your meal and enjoy a great evening. The longest course goes to Mangere Mountain and has the road bit in between so it will be a bit of a challenge. For those wanting something hard but not too long, try the memory course - it will really test your ability to read the map. The whole area is quite flat so the contours on the map are at 1 metre intervals - giving lots of lines but not a lot of climb. All courses go right along part of the Manukau Harbour and so get, provided the weather is OK, some lovely views out to the west. Access to the part of the Park where we are starting is off Ambury Rd. Come to the end of the road and you'll see us.

Anyone for orienteering in the dark?? The Clubs are soon going to be organising their teams for Katoa Po, the night relays that are held in Taupo. If this sounds like your sort of thing then join up and join in the fun. It really is a most exciting event. You also get a quality event the next day. Well worth a trip down country. The relay starts on the evening of Saturday the 18th of March.
