Results from courses: One   Two   Three   Four

Another great night for orienteering. It nearly rained but didn't, except on those putting out the controls in the middle of the afternoon. Having heard the reports from the Hauraki Gulf about the stormy weather for towing Young America back in I thought we'd get heaps of rain - hence the tent - but we were lucky.

Well those courses were a shock after the gentle start last week! The controls in not such obvious sites and some rather difficult terrain if you didn't take the easy route as well as longer courses made times longer. We hope you enjoyed your outing though. Sorry to those course one runners who spent time scrambling round in the green looking for their last control which was sitting happily at the end of the bridge right on the track! It was a course 4 control just meant to turn you round - certainly not intended to be a challenge!! It was probably mapped to accentuate the side of the bridge it was on for course 4 but did have a control description of NW end of bridge. Those who did not bother with control descriptions suffered on a few controls today - things weren't quite as visible in some of the terrain - we do go to the effort of providing them for a reason! Hope the scratches don't take too long to heal Rob!

Next week we are on the Tamaki map, starting on the Point England Reserve. Some say its too far to come but it is really quite close in, it is just in a different direction from what many of you usually travel. The reserve is right by the Tamaki river. It is tidal at this point and the tide will be out - planned so we could run you over the mudflats (but don't). Mark Robert is furiously finishing off a colour map of the Pt England reserve and surrounding areas. It is a lovely spot so come down and try it. For those who do courses 1 & 2 there will be some street running as the Tamaki map is largely streets with many interconnecting parks. It'll be just a little different so come and give it a go.

The following week (the first of our Wednesday events -24th Nov-) we are on the Carrington map starting in Unitec. Come in gate number 3 off Carrington Rd.

We had a couple of compasses left behind tonight - if you left your compass behind give us a call (or email) and we'll check to see if we have it. Or just ask next Tuesday.

Looking forward to see you at next weeks event.
