Controllers
comments
Was great to see so many there tonight. Once again, welcome to all school
students.
Pleased that all of you enjoyed the courses despite the horrendous humidity and
that no controls went missing.
Our setter, Jenny, did an excellent job of setting the courses. It is a no doubt a big learning curve for anyone organising for an event for his or her first time. Thanks Jenny for your excellent help and familiarity of the area, having lived there before!! Thanks to the Stewarts, Mervyn and everyone else who helped set up and pull down on the day. Rudy.
Another fine night for orienteering what would you expect with Rudy being the controller (Rudy is renowned for his predicting good weather!). We are sorry we mucked up the map order (mixed the number of maps requested for each of course 3 & 4) and hope it didnt upset anyone. The numbers attending tonight were more than we predicted and so we ran close to being short of maps overall it was great to have you all along.
Thank you very much to Jenny Andrew and Rudy Hlawatsch for the setting and controlling tonight. Rudy being a runner as well as an orienteering wanted to ensure we got a good run and we did. Jenny was a first time setter and did a great job. Thank you to both of you.
NIGHT EVENTS THIS Thursday 12th and Saturday 21st
********* First one is this week It is almost upon us ***********
We are really looking forward to seeing a great turn out night events are great fun so make sure you are there.
You need to bring along a good torch or headlamp so you can see where you are going, read the map and spot the controls which will have reflective tape on them. A compass could be handy too for course 1 and 2 we have some at the campermatic you can borrow. There will be 3 courses. The easiest is somewhere between the usual course 3 and 4 but being dark will be harder. Youngsters can leave at twilight (from 8.15) if they wish but younger ones should be accompanied by an adult. Main starts will be from 9.00 till 10pm. Course closure 11.00pm. For the event on Saturday, 21st at Ambury you can stay on and camp in Ambury Park if you wish - $5 /adult, $2 children 5-18. You can book by phoning the ARC (3662000, option 2). Should be a great way to spend the night.
