I’m not going to discuss the weather but it sort of cleared up by start time. Green Coast, a keen supporter of orienteering in Auckland, erected one of their family tents and so there was plenty of shelter for those that needed it.
Thank you to Craig Pearce, course setter for tonight, and Jeff Greenwood, the controller. You did a great job and it was wonderful for Joanna and I not have to do any of the usual preparation. Thanks also to Bert and Dougal and as always Tom for the help in getting set up in the worst of the weather.
Next week is the last chance for orienteering before Christmas. Come along and run or walk off all those Christmas parties!! Next Thursday we are on a brand new map in a new city park that most of you will not know. The name is Nga Parae Mataora – does that help? Even the Council doesn’t recognise this name yet. The park is also known as Hillsborough Park. It is accessed off Korma Rd which turns off Pah Rd almost opposite the Sanitarium factory. The Council are going to open the gate so there will be limited parking inside. If parking on the entrance road please park tightly on the left as you enter – to allow room for the exiting cars. Orienteers may be crossing the parking area while competing so please drive carefully. This event is on Thursday the 19th of December.
