Setters comments
Firstly, a big thanks to everyone that came along to what is probably the furtherest event for most people, its very gratifying to see people enjoying the sport that much. Also thank you to all those who passed on their comments, nearly all positive, which makes it all worthwhile. As a map, Mangere Mountain is quite a challenge to set on, as it has a very small area, but a wonderful variety of excellent control sites. Hopefully, the memory course gave competitors the opportunity to get that little extra bit of distance, whilst honing their simplification skills. It was also good to see a few people who have been running course 3 or 4 making the step up to course 2. It's certainly a lot more challenging, but that just makes it all the more fun!
My one disappointment for the evening was control ZZ going missing. Unfortunately when we set courses in public parks, it is one of the hazards we face, and we just have to replace it as soon as we can. In the end, it was probably missing for a little over 20 minutes, and for anyone whose course was disrupted, my sincerest apologies.
Yet another reminder that next week's event will be on Thursday 26th November not the Wednesday as previously advertised. It is in the Domain, with the event centre at the Band Rotunda. Tell your friends, and lets see if we can get even more people out into our parks running around like madmen. The week after that will be held at Churchill Park in Glendowie, which we don't get out to much, but certainly has some interesting areas. We can't promise anything yet, but there may even be a contours-only course to spice up your life.
